Troubleshooting

Betaflight Configurator

Use of a laptop or desktop computer Betaflight Configurator installed and with microUSB cable (included) is required to properly configure drones. Betaflight Configurator 10.8  (BFC) is a free, community-developed open-source flight controller Graphical User Interface (GUI) tool which allows users to adjust the flight dynamics and troubleshoot drone settings.

DO NOT FLASH FIRMWARE, or charge batteries,
prior to training. It is very important that you apply the correct Command Line Interface (CLI) "code" settings to your drone that matches the existing firmware version of your flight controller (FC). Always check the version of your FC firmware in the upper left hand version of Betaflight Configurator.

Find updated "code" settings on our Github:

Follow Your Checklists

When solving a problem do not give up and start over! Troubleshooting must be accomplished systematically to isolate the actual cause of a problem, otherwise your actions may further complicate the situation.

Aircraft Flight Manual (AFM)

Follow the provided U.S. Drone Soccer Aircraft Flight Manual for your DS200 aircraft. Flight manuals and operating handbooks are concise reference books that provide specific information about a particular aircraft or subject. They contain basic facts, information, and/or instructions for the pilot and crew about the operation of an aircraft and are intended to be kept on hand for ready reference.

Manual and Checklist Use

Manuals and checklists are written in a specific order, and doing those actions in order is important. Consistent checklist use is a sign of a disciplined and competent aircrew. Steps that must be done in order will be numbered. These steps apply to all crew unless specified ( P for Pilot , and R for Referee ). A separation indicates the Cue on the left … and the Action to be taken on the right. Items with a Verbal Response are in quotations. Every time you complete an Action , you should Verify the results of that action, items to check and verify are listed with bullets.

For Example:

  1. ON COMMAND (R)..........................“ARM YOUR DRONES”

  2. THROTTLE (P)....................................................................IDLE

  3. RADIO ARMING SWITCH (P)………………………………….….ON

  • Verify propellers are spinning at idle power
