Theres a new sport coming to a growing number of U.S. high schools and it's one with diversity at the core of its mission.
Visually, "drone soccer" looks like a mix of the neon cyberpunk fantasy of "Blade Runner" and the aerial wizardry of the quiddich matches from "Harry Potter". A drone soccer match takes place in a small netted arena to protect spectators and pilots. Students wear protective glasses because parts often fly off of the competitors in the robotic clashes. Each of the two teams has [five] small remote-controlled quadcopter drones, each encased in a protective plastic shell about the size of a volleyball, lit up with LED lights for easy team identification.
